Okay, I admit it - I really dropped the ball on keeping up the blog on my last trip out of the country. Even more ridiculous is the way I just threw in that "last trip" bit since it was my ONLY trip so far in my current lifetime. (I can't speak for other lifetimes that may be lurking in my subconscious...) Let's just mark that lapse in communication up to a little something we call "Guinness".
ANYWAY - if you were bold enough to read my first post down at the end of this column, you'd see how the whole anxiety thing started -- packing! Turns out I over packed last time! Who knew? Well actually most of you reading knew and told me so numerous times before I left - including right up to the time I took the crane from Terminal 2 at LAX and carefully lifted my bag from the trunk to the curb. So, this trip I am taking a bag half as big and leaving my other bag at home so -- only one medium suitcase and a carry on. I swear it took longer to figure out what stays and what gets kicked to back to the bedspread than it did last time! I'm sure I have a couple shirts and sweaters too many, but since I'm so far ahead of last trip I figured I'll just go with it.
About this time you're probably wondering if this blog is even worth reading since so far all I've done is blab about my suitcase and how much fun I'm not to be around right before a trip. I promise** you this will be my last rant (unless we get diverted to Paris or something).
Now I finally feel like my vacation started -- sitting in the Upper class lounge for Virgin Atlantic sharing laughs and cocktails with movie stars flying overseas incognito and waiting for the super hot Virgin Atlantic strippers to escort me down to my flight. (it's my story - I'll tell it how I want.)
I had a wonderful couple days seeing my family and today was the most beautiful day of weather we've had in SoCal in weeks -- so tell me again why I'm going to the freezing tundra of Piccadilly Circus and the snow capped mountains of Parliament and Big Ben? Just crazy I guess. Hopefully I'll take some cool pictures and meet some fun people and generally enjoy myself for 10 days. If I do, don't hold that against me.
**Disclaimer -- any promises made in blog form are not legally binding so don't blame me if I one day just take some weird conversational tangent. Those that know me well would expect nothing less anyway...
